Early Detection Is Key
Early detection and treatment provide the best opportunity for breast cancer survival. We encourage you to be proactive about your breast health through monthly self-exams and yearly mammograms.
New 3D Mammography
Brandon Regional Hospital continues to set the standard for breast care in our community by now offering women a 3D mammogram for a more comprehensive, layer by layer exam. In fact, studies have found that this exam detects 41% more invasive breast cancers and reduces false positives by up to 40%.
A 3D mammogram is very similar to a traditional mammogram. There is no additional compression required with the 3D mammogram, and it only takes a few seconds longer for each view.
If an abnormality is found in your mammogram, we will reduce the anxiety that is often caused by waiting for the results. Your physician will be contacted immediately with your results to review and discuss them with you. If surgical consultation is needed, breast care surgeons from Brandon Regional Hospital are available to consult with you within 48 hours of receiving the physician referral.
